Along with about 16 other paintings, this was one of the last Robert Walton created, after 45+ years in the art field. In those years, he created 4 or 5000 paintings, most never recorded, and the few that were, only for the prints that were made from them, no sizes saved! After the Washington State Fair, and the Fred Oldfield's show last October, Robert first had to have his right elbow operated on, thus in a sling for almost 2 months...thus no painting. In the 7 years we were together, unless we were traveling, or away from the house, Robert spent 7 to 9 hours every day in the studio, painting! So, for those 2 months with his arm in a sling, was almost unbearable for him!
BUT, January and February saw him back to full swing, at his easel, trying to catch up for lost time! And being Mount Rainier, a mountain that he climbed many times in his youth, from about 12 to 27, he seemed destined to paint it many times, and fortunate that he did in 2019, being he could not be returning to his studio in early March.
